Bio: Gautham is a PhD scholar at the Centre for Sustainable Technologies, working under the guidance of Dr P. Balachandra and Dr S. Dasappa. His research focuses on the sustainability assessment of advanced biofuel value chains for transition in the Indian transport system. The work aims to bridge gaps in existing knowledge by exploring the feasibility of achieving the second-generation biofuel transition by examining and optimizing the economic, environmental, and social performance along the value chain. The work also intends to develop multiple scenarios of biofuel integration in the Indian transport system, and evaluate their implications on sustainability, GHG mitigation, and the reduction of oil import dependencies. Gautham completed his master's degree in Energy Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin in 2015, and Bachelor's in Energy Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Bhopal, in 2011. Before commencing his research stint at the IISc, he worked in the Solar PV industry as a Project Manager for three years.
