Dr. Lathapriya Vellingiri
Research Associate
PhD - Physics
Curriculum Vitae
Bio: Lathapriya is a materials researcher with a demonstrated history of developing novel materials for energy storage applications by fine-tuning their properties at the nanoscale. She started her research career as a junior research fellow in the DST-SERB, a Government of India-sponsored project on solid-state hydrogen storage materials at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, where she has completed her doctorate. Lathapriya’s Ph.D. research primarily focused on material development and characterization of morphologically tuned metal oxides and metal borohydrides functionalized carbon-nanostructured materials and elucidating their physicochemical properties as well as their surface chemistry to understand their hydrogen storage behaviour. With this thrive towards energy research, Dr Lathapriya joined as a Research Associate at CGPL, IISc and started working on fuel cell modelling via COMSOL Multiphysics and characterization of PEM MEAs before and after bio hydrogen exposure to improve the performance and durability of the Proton exchange membrane (PEM) and Solid-oxide fuel cell. Further, she believes that this study will provide a detailed understanding of how the impurities in biomass-derived hydrogen affect the fuel cell performance and to mitigate them to make bio hydrogen-powered vehicles a reality.
