Opening doors to endless possibilities: Open Day 2023 at the Combustion Gasification and Propulsion Laboratory exceeded all expectations and was open for 1. Demonstration of Fuel cell operation with a miniature Electric Vehicle. 2. Demonstration of Gasification technology for syngas production. 3. Demonstration of engine operation with producer gas. 4. Demonstrate of Vacuum pressure swing adsorption (VPSA) technology for Hydrogen generation.
Interactions between the team from Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd. and Dr Anand, CGPL.
Dr. S. Chandrasekhar, Department of Science & Technology, Secretary to the Government of India, witnessing the various projects undertaken at CGPL in the domain of clean energy.
Team from Aditya Birla Group witness the pilot-scale, green hydrogen generation facility at CGPL.
Mr. Jai Prakash Srivastava Director (Engineering, Research & Development), BHEL and his team visits CGPL on Nov 04, 2022.
It is not all research and studies, the entire team of CGPL celebrates Ayudha pooja to mark the celebration of victory of good over evil.
Yuri Sebregts, Executive Vice President Technology/ Chief Technology Officer and his team from Shell visit CGPL. The visit entailed a tour of the indigenous oxy-steam gasification technology and other state-of-the-art technologies developed at CGPL.
Oxygen generation system based on the technology developed at CGPL, IISC, is installed at the Pobbathi Medical Centre, Bengaluru. It was commissioned on 27th July 2021 and inaugurated by BBMP Commissioner, Gaurav Gupta. The oxygen generation system, also known by S3 (S-cube), works on the principle of Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA), where it draws ambient air through a compressor along with a conditioning system to remove any contaminants before separating oxygen. The generated oxygen fulfils the quality requirements prescribed by Indian Pharmacopeia and can be used in ICUs/CCUs/OTs and other clinical wards. S3 installed at the Pobbathi Medical Centre catered to the needs of 100s of Covid-19 patients affected during the second wave.
Consecutive, to IISc Directors’ visit, the oxy-steam gasification technology for green hydrogen generation from biomass, developed in CGPL, is published across various media channels.
Prof. Govindan Rangarajan, Director, IISc visits CGPL on 11th July, 2022. The team from CGPL has successfully generated Green Hydrogen from biomass, for fuel cell application. During the Director’s visit the entire process starting from biomass conversion, purification, separation and utilization for end use application in PEMFC (Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell) was demonstrated.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the R&D Centre of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Faridabad signed a MoU to develop and demonstrate biomass gasification- based hydrogen generation technology for producing fuel cell-grade hydrogen. Dr. SSV Ramakumar, Director (R&D), IOCL, visits CGPL on 19 Feb 2022, to tour the laboratory and the state-of-the art technologies.
